You need to watch out for kidney disease
Kidney disease is one of the worst things that can happen to cats, and so you need to watch out for it at all times. Some of the signs include fatigue, sickness, and lack of appetite. You should make sure that you take your cat to the vets if you notice any of these issues.

Weight gain is a real problem

You should be aware that you will need to take your cat to the vets more and more as they age. This is unavoidable. I think the weight gain issue is the same for dogs (and truth be told, for humans!). Have to keep them active to keep off the pounds!
